They said, There’s a Japanese restaurant in the jungle.”

We asked, “Where is it?”

They answered, “Can’t say.”

“Can’t, or won’t?” A cliché challenge.

“You should ask around.”

We asked around. Directions were sketchy. Information imprecise. A mystery wrapped up in all that other stuff. You know the quote.

“When do they open?” we asked.

“Can’t say,” they answered.

Again, cliché.

So, one evening around acceptable dinner time, we headed out.
