Another very perceptive and thoughtful piece. Your early comment triggered my own memory of a hugely provocative lesson given in my first year at University. Something I had never even considered until then: That every writer has an agenda. One's first duty as a student is to identify that agenda as one reads. In order to objectively assess both the material and one's own response. But I also love your inclusion of the "intuitive" factor, especially as one grows older. So many people dismiss that as a "narrowing of the mind," which it sometimes is, but it is also based on a lifetime of learning. As always, your article was inclusive and well-rounded. I enjoyed it very much.
