Fascinating and engaging piece! Even ties in with the notion of "acceptance" in so many wisdom teachings. I did smile, as it also evoked a tiny little example of my own. I grew up with a terror of cockroaches. Then, going to live in Mexico for several years, I became so acclimated to them (and even worse little beasts) I was completely shocked when one ran over my bare foot, and I didn't even flinch.
