I feel rather fortunate in how things occurred for me. I was on Medium for several years, but didn't really understand the platform, nor the need for engagement. Mostly, it just seemed like another blogging platform. Since that changed three months ago, and seeing how much I love every aspect of being here, I am still really glad I finished my literary novel first. That required and deserved my undivided attention (other than caregiving for my bedridden brother 24/7). Since that 8 year burden - the novel, not my brother - is now lifted, I find myself having ...well, just a lot of fun here on Medium. My writing is being read. That alone is worth the time and presence. And I am gaining an appreciation for the individuality of other writers, whom I used to see more as competitors than compadres. So, not only do I feel for your experience, and your sharing of it, I agree with so much of what you say. Even if you do start your day half an hour before I do. So, okay, you win.
