I love this article. Mostly, because it validates many things I came to value naturally and independently. That is, I have very little idea how Medium "works." Specifically, in terms of the "money mechanics." Since I never expected to earn money on Medium, I've never studied the strategies for doing so. I've been happy to earn what I have. When I fully committed to the platform a year ago, I also committed to do so for the purposes of my writing, not for community interactions. Ironically, the community involvements came about naturally and I've developed social friendships so much better than other sites I joined and quit. Medium is my writing platform and my social home, and I really couldn't be more pleased with it as both. The changes I've witnessed always seem geared toward benefiting quality writing and popular appeal. I've gone on way too long, but I'll finish by saying Medium has been crucial to improving my writing. That alone is worth the price of admission.
