I wish tourists would show respect everywhere they go. As slo-travelers, we witnessed way too much noisiness in sacred places. By the way, and this is purely personal speculation, I cannot for a moment think the Treasury was a temple. Again, purely my little bitty opinion: it has the air of a governmental depository - perhaps for documents, as you suggested. In any case, certainly one of the most impressive structures I've ever seen!
