Very nice article! A bit off subject, one of the most comforting sights in the world to me is that of a small coastal town seen at night from just out at sea. Seeing all those little squares of warm yellow light makes you believe that all is right with the world. And the distance of being a bit at sea allows you to pretend that nothing bad is going on inside.
